Implementation of joint plan No. 13/KHLT – DTN – SVHTT&DL dated April 17, 2013 between Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and on the occasion of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day On November 23, 2013, the Museum of Ho Chi Minh City organized “A contest to introduce historical and cultural relics in Ho Chi Minh City”.
Ho Chi Minh City currently has 146 relics ranked as historical – cultural relics, including 1 special national relic, 57 national monuments, and 88 city-level monuments. The historical – cultural relics are invaluable assets, associated with the formation and development of the city as well as in the historical process of fighting against French colonialism and American imperialism. The contest aims to promote the education of traditional patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and national pride of the people of Ho Chi Minh City, especially the young generation. At the same time, further strengthen the conservation and promotion of the value of historical – cultural relics in the city, including the role of explaining and guiding visitors at the monument.
The contest is open to students from junior high schools, high schools, union members and youths of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of 24 districts in Ho Chi Minh City. The contest was held from August to November 2013, in 2 rounds:
The preliminary round of the contest was held in 24 districts. There were more than 24,000 written exams and 465 presentations were selected in the Districts. The grassroots round has selected 46 candidates to compete in the city-level final round.
On November 23, 2013, the final round of the City Competition was held at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum. Forty-six contestants have really demonstrated their perception, understanding of monuments and their presentation skills, as non-specialist speakers of the cultural heritage industry.
“The presentation contest to introduce historical and cultural relics in Ho Chi Minh City” has ended, but the knowledge and echoes of the contest have made a good impression on the journey. come to the historical roots, learn about the valuable content hidden in each monument so that students, union members and people, especially the localities where the relic is ranked, have new perspectives, more fully, in order to join hands with the cultural sector in preserving and promoting the value of historical – cultural relics in Ho Chi Minh City.
