To enhance the books’ value, affirm their important role and place in social life, honor the readers and those who take part in collecting, storing, maintaining and disseminating books; with the aim of looking for and finding out sources of precious and rare books, writings, and materials currently still kept by individuals and groups, domestic and overseas; and in response to Vietnamese Books’ Day, Apr. 21, and “World Books and Copyrights’ Day”, Apr. 23, 2014, Ho Chi Minh City Library of General Sciences coordinated with The Museum of Ho Chi Minh City and Thai Duong Consulting and Investment Corporation (KIZCiti) have jointly held the First Competition of “Precious Books” for 2014. After nearly 2 months’ launching, the Competition has attracted 13 individuals and 3 units who took part with 92 titles of 138 books, and magazines, including those topics in literature, history, architecture, arts, traditional medicine, religions, and linguistics …
On Apr. 23, 2014 morning, the Ceremony of Summary and Prize-giving for the Competition was held at the City’s Displaying Hall (No. 92 Le Thanh Ton St., Dist. 1). In the same day, there also occurred the exhibition through Apr. 29, 2014 to introduce the typical books already taking part in the competition.
