In the morning of October 31, 2014, at the exhibition house of Museum of Ho Chi Minh City, the Japanese Cultural Exchange Center in Viet Nam has coordinated with the Japanese Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City to inaugurate the artistic exhibition “The Handicraft Beauty of Tohoku area – Japan”. The exhibition was performed to recollect the earthquake and tsunami in Tohoku on March 11, 2011, at the same time, to help everybody re-look at the outstanding cultural heritages and fine art handicraft heritages, imbued with cultural identity of Tohoku area.
The works exhibited this time, of the artists in the mingei such as Kanjiro Kawai, Shoji Hamada, Keisuke Serizawa and Shiko Munakata are works diversified with such materials as porcelain, lacquer, textile, metal, wood and bamboo, through which the sophisticated technique and aestheticism of traditional handicraft have been shown. The exhibition lasted from October 31, 2014 to the end of November 10, 2014 in Ho Chi Minh City. After that it will be exhibited in Ha Noi to introduce to everybody the beauty and the sophisticated technique of the traditional handicraft of Tohoku area – Japan.
