On October 17, 2014, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum held a thematic activity: “The art of masquerading as the character system of Hat Boi” presented by outstanding artist Huu Danh.
In the special session, the outstanding artist Huu Danh gave an overview of the history of Hat Boi and the character of each character through the way of makeup. From there, viewers can better understand the characters: Chinese or flatter, literary or martial, gentle or cruel, calm or short-tempered… Participating in a thematic activity with a large number of students from the College of Literature Ho Chi Minh City and the Faculty of Social Sciences Pedagogy, Saigon University.
Excerpts from the symposium such as San Hau, Tam Anh Chien Lu Bo’s plays and face painting illustrations by artists helped students understand more about color, eye skin background, irises, beard… with a specific meaning; the difference between performing a mask and drawing a contour on the face.
